1. What should I expect when I use FriktionTek®?

Even though the process takes some time (roughly 1,250 miles) to complete, it is quite common to notice improvements long before that. Immediate reductions in noise and vibration are quite common. Engine response improves quickly.

Every machine is different and thus responds differently to treatment. For high mileage vehicles with extreme wear, a second treatment may be necessary to optimize the ceramic coating. This will be indicated by an immediate improvement which decreases within 2,000 miles. If this occurs, the second treatment will fill remaining micro-abrasions and build the layer sufficiently to last up to 65,000 miles.

Do not be alarmed if you see your oil pressure fluctuate after adding FriktionTek® to an engine. It’s a sure sign that FriktionTek® is working. back to top

2. I’ve seen quite a few oil additives over the years. What makes FriktionTek® different?

Although FriktionTek® is added to oil, it is not a traditional oil additive. FriktionTek®, the orignal patented ceramic-metal conditioner, works on metal and does not modify the oil. As the ceramic-metal layer forms, the fit and finish of parts is improved, thus placing less demand on whatever lubricant is present in the system.

Unlike recent imitators of XADO's patented ceramic technology, FriktionTe®k by XADO is certified by TUV, API, VW, Volvo and more. FriktionTek® by XADO is manufactured under strict ISO 9001 standards, contains no harmful additives such as chlorine and carbon, and is backed by full liability insurance. back to top

3. Should I change my oil prior to using FriktionTek®?

You may add FriktionTek® directly after your oil change or between oil changes. As the crystals are formed, the chemistry attracts molecules of wear metal present in the lubricant; these molecules are added back to the surface. Normal driving conditions will produce enough wear metal molecules during the 1,250 miles it takes for the process to work.

If you are adding FriktionTek® between oil changes, be sure to have 1,250 miles left until your next oil change so you don't lose any of the FriktionTek particles before they've had a chance to work. back to top

4. Does FriktionTek® contain zinc, Teflon® (PTFEs), metals, waxes, detergents or chlorine?

No. FriktionTek® is a preparation of naturally occurring minerals suspended in a synthetic gel base. There are no “conventional” friction reducers added and no toxic by-products. back to top

5. Why should I use a ceramic coating?

FriktionTek® provides a number of benefits. The repair aspect often returns several times your investment in just minutes. From a fuel saving perspective, most people save enough to pay for the product in just a few thousand miles. From an environmental perspective, the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions surpasses that of technologies costing much more. Increased reliability also offers significant, although overlooked savings. Any one of these factors is worth the price of FriktionTek. Combined, the return on investment is unsurpassed. back to top

6. How much repair can FriktionTek® produce? How does it know when to stop?

FriktionTek® can add microns in a pump element, several thousandths in an engine, and has been measured to grow as much as 63 thousandths in a gearbox. When the fit and finish of mating parts becomes optimized, there is no longer sufficient friction to trigger further crystal growth. The process is self-limiting. back to top

7. What are the properties of the coating?

FriktionTek® works with a magnesium-silicate nano particle. It's friction coefficient as low as 0.003-0.007 without lubrication; high electrical resistance (prevents electrochemical corrosion); high destruction temperature (roughly 2,900º F); prevents hydrogen embitterment; coefficient of thermal expansion 13.6-14.2; surface micro hardness 690-710 HV; extremely high shock resistance and pressure loading.back to top

8. Is FriktionTek® safe? Will it void my warranty?

FriktionTek® is completely non-toxic and nonflammable with no harmful emissions when used in a combustion engine. However, you should avoid getting it in your eyes and mouth and should wash your hands thoroughly after working with it.

FriktionTek® cannot damage to a vehicle and will not void any warranty, unless the warranty explicitly states aftermarket oil additives cannot be used. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, manufacturers cannot automatically void a warranty if a customer uses additives nor can they restrict the use of any additive without absolute proof (through extensive testing) that it does damage. FriktionTek® has performed extensive testing and sold thousands of treatments with no negative results. back to top

9. Are the different products interchangeable?

Each product is designed specifically to work in the mechanical environment listed on the label. The base gel and the particle size varies with the tolerances to be expected in a given system. It is not recommended to use the various products interchangeably unless you contact customer service. back to top

10. Does FriktionTek® work in synthetic oil?

FriktionTek® will work in the presence of any type of oil, however it may take slightly longer to see the full effects of the treatment with synthetic oils since they lower the level heat within the engine. back to top

11. What if I have used oil additives?

The prior use of additives will not hamper FriktionTek's process. FriktionTek® removes all previous coatings from part surfaces as it creates the new surface. back to top

12. Does FriktionTek® help in new cars? What about overhauls?

In a new car, FriktionTek® helps in two main ways. First, it protects against wear and second it effectively spin balances the engine under working conditions. There is no other practical means for doing this. back to top

13. Is FriktionTek® compatible with wet clutch systems and limited slip differentials?

FriktionTek® only works in the presence of metal to metal contact. Since clutch plates are made of fibrous material, there is no issue with these applications. back to top

14. What about automatic transmissions?

Tthe FriktionTek® Automatic Transmission Treatment is compatible with all transmission fluid types. For most cars and light trucks the appropriate dose is one 18 ml cartridges in 1 step. Due to the length of most filler tubes, it is usually advisable to liquefy the gel by heating to 90ºF prior to application. This can be done by placing it on you dashboard (with your defroster on high) for 15 minutes.

If you have a sealed transmission, you will need to take your vehicle to your dealer to add the product. back to top

15. How long does FriktionTek® last? Do I need to use it at every oil change?

A complete FriktionTek® treatment typically lasts for 65,000 miles. For many people this is about 15 oil changes. back to top

16. I have never used FriktionTek® before. What guarantees to I have that it won't do more harm than good?

While FriktionTek® is a fairly new product, the technology has been used worldwide for a decade. During that time, close to a million vehicles have been treated with no negative effect and no claims. In the US, more than 10,000 vehicles have been treated with no damage claims and less than 1% have asked for their money back through our 100% satisfaction guarantee.

FriktionTek offers a warranty against damage due to product use, a money-back guarantee and is covered by product liability insurance. back to top
